I was about to come on and reassure you that, hey, this has to happen eventually, love the team not the player, etc. Then I saw that Manny is going to the hated Dodgers. So screw the Red Sox.

but you know what the thing is man, he is the heart and soul of the team. I mean, that sounds lame but for god's sake he IS the fucking team for me. And they traded Nomar (100 years ago) they traded Bronson, they let Pedro go (which I was OK with- but really sad) but this is just fucking offensive. The team I used to root for is gone gone gone and they just have no respect for the fans who love the Red Sox and the sport and all the fucking rest. I am so fucking done.

it's so funny that you cite bronson arroyo as a source of your red sox pain. he was a white guy with corn rows, for heavens sake. and he plays guitar. ACOUSTIC guitar.

i don't judge mr. fancy pants!

Well, I don't know. He was definitely the franchise player, but if he was really the "heart and soul of the team," why did he demand to be traded every 3-6 months?

Oh Tom. He loved the Boston fans, he loved the team, but management is a fucking mess. They are not team players.

i still think you're letting manny off way too light. he was intentionally tanking his play because the red sox ownership didn't want to agree to a 4 year, $100 million deal with him. he is, after all, 37 years old and has show declines in his play over the last 2 years. oh, and he deserves a RAISE for that?

i think not.

anyway, if you won't listen to me, listen to peter gammons -- the only baseball WRITER in the hall of fame. plus, he's covered the red sox since forever.

oh wait, you're probably not an espn insider. ask slanch for the log in info.

First of all he's 36. Second of all Mr. Fantasy Baseball Robot, this about FEELINGS. My favorite ball player was traded from my team and the team is not what it once was. Its like getting dumped by someone you love for someone else. Yah sure, MAYBE you can argue you are better off, but it doesn't make it HURT any less.
